Happy October, everyone!
Little known fact: I am a sucker for free factory tours. I’m that girl in the tour group who laughs out loud at every cheesy pun and marvels at the production process. I also take my free samples seriously, and Celestial Seasonings offers some great free samples. If you’re looking for a free activity in Boulder, I would recommend this in a heartbeat.
Family Friendly Activity in Boulder
The Celestial Seasonings Tour in Boulder may be the most family friendly activity in all of Colorado and definitely one of the most wholesome excursions in Boulder. If you are in Boulder for a day and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Pearl Street, be sure to check this out.
Celestial Seasonings Tour
The 45 minute tour highlights the history of the company, the process of making tea and an inside look of the factory. This tour can be taken any time of the year since it is held indoors. My favorite part is the stop inside of the Mint Room – the scent is so strong that most people have to walk out. It certainly clears your sinuses!
Celestial Seasonings Tour Samples
Along with your free hot and iced tea samples you get a complimentary packet of tea for the road – this packet also serves as your ticket inside of the tour which I thought was super cute and creative.
Celestial Seasonings Fun Facts
The tour guide also let us in on some fun tea facts:
Did you know that their best selling tea is Sleepytime?
Or that the vast majority of their tea is sold in Canada?
Or that their Tension Tamer tea contains catnip? We gave a bag of Tension Tamer to our cat. She wasn’t impressed. Either she’s far too sophisticated for catnip or it’s really not that prevalent in the tea.
Celestial Seasonings Tour Photography
Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in the factory so I could only capture us at the end of the tour in our hairnets. They also let you take the hairnets home FO FREE. (Did I mention I’m a sucker for free samples?)
Celestial Seasonings Sale
When we were there, Celestial Seasonings was having a tent sale and we were able to snag a lifetime supply for only 75 cents a box. We’re slowly working our way through it and so far, chamomile and lavender is my favorite.
Celestial Seasonings Factory Location and Hours
As if this place wasn’t adorable enough…it’s conveniently located at Zinger Street and Sleepytime Drive in Boulder, Colorado.
Tours are offered every hour on the hour on Monday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
There are several strict FDA requirements and Good Manufacturing Practices on their website that you should check out before going (i.e. no children under 5 years of age, no service animals, etc.)
