Hello there, fellow travelers!
We all knew this post was coming sooner or later. Here is is: a comprehensive list of 100 things to do in Denver.
It both frustrates me and motivates me to know I have only done 59 out of 100 of the above things. Here are a couple of items on my list that I highly recommend:
While the Denver Botanic Gardens makes my list of Denver’s top 5 tourist traps, it’s also absolutely stunning in the winter during Blossoms of Light. I definitely recommend it, I just would consider seeing Colorado’s natural landscaping, first. I’m obsessed with Lakeside Amusement Park and wrote a blog dedicated to it here. It’s authentic, reasonably priced and hardly ever crowded!
The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is definitely a fan favorite. I’ve heard great things about the Molly Brown House – home of the famous “Unsinkable” Molly Brown, a Titanic survivor. The Wings Over the Rockies Museum is located in the Denver suburb of Lowry, where I currently live (read more about Lowry here).
Denver Theatres and Music Venues
I rode my first and only mechanical bull at the Grizzly Rose and saw one too many emo concerts in high school at the Marquis Theater. The Ellie Caulkins Opera House is a beautiful place to see The Nutcracker during the holidays. We saw Lion, the movie, at the Landmark Esquire, a tiny indie film theatre in Denver. You really can’t go wrong with any of the places in this category.
You can’t visit Denver without visiting the 16th street mall, read my guide on it here. Tattered Cover Book Store may be the coolest book store in Colorado and is definitely worth a visit (skip the location in Union Station – it’s tiny). The Wizard’s Chest is a fun store with just about every game and toy you could ever imagine.
My husband and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Beatrice and Woodsley, Google image search it, it’s so stunning! I have an unhealthy obsession with Casa Bonita and I will promote it every chance I get, read about it here. Little Man Ice Cream is adorable, despite the long line. Snooze has the best pancakes in Denver, it’s on my Best Brunch in Denver list.
Adrift Tiki Bar and Punch Bowl Social are both Sweet Spots on South Broadway and I have a Forest Room 5 review for those looking for the coolest, dog friendly bar patio in Denver. Linger is a pretty obvious go-to for out of towners – the view of the Denver skyline is spectacular!
Cheesman Park is totally haunted. I’m going ghost hunting there in a few weeks. I’ll let you know how that goes. I also have a pretty interesting story about Tubing in Confluence Park without a tube. People who are visiting Denver for the first time must make a day trip to Red Rocks Ampitheater, see my 5 Tips for a Red Rocks Concert before going to a show.
There are so many great things to do in Denver. If you have any questions about the items on my list, feel free to reach out! I’d love to hear from people living in or traveling to the Mile High City!
